187. Leonard J. Camp

Leonard J Camp, son of Ephriam J. Camp and Clara Kirk Camp was born January 19, 1917 in Troy Township, Clarke Co. IA and passed from this life March 12, 2008 at Clarke County Hospital at 91 years of age. Leonard received his education in Clarke County country schools and attended Peru High School. He served in the US Army from 1940 to 1945 during World War II. He was united in marriage to Gladys "Ruth" Stark on May 3, 1942 in Jefferson City, Missouri. Leonard spent most of his lifetime in Clarke county and farmed in Fremont Township; he retired in 1979. He was a member of Davis-Pence Post #69 American Legion; NFO, and the First Christian Church. Leonard enjoyed woodworking, restoring tractors, card playing, traveling and camping. Those relatives who preceded Leonard in death were his parents; wife Ruth; infant son, Leonard Jean; sister, Burla Stephenson; and brothers, Clifford Camp and Benjamin Camp. He leaves to cherish his memory; daughter, Judy Matton of Omaha, NE, son, John Camp and wife Jane of Osceola; granddaughters, Lisa Carpenter and husband Byron of Omaha, NE, Tiffany Rohlfs and husband Scott of Omaha, NE, Jenny McKenzie and husband Rusty of Indianola, Angie Richey and husband Matt of St. Charles; great-grandchildren, Andrew Carpenter, Nathan Carpenter, Seth Carpenter, Spencer Rohlfs, Peyton Rohlfs, James McKenzie, Riley McKenzie; brother, Clell Camp of Osceola; sister, Waunita Siefkas and husband Darrell of Murray; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Clell E. Camp, son of Ephraim J. and Clara Kay (Kirk)
Camp was born October 30, 1919 in Clarke County, Iowa and
passed from this life Sunday, April 26, 2009 at Southern Hills
Specialty Care in Osceola, Iowa at 89 years of age.
Clell moved from Clarke County to Madison County with his
family in 1929. He received his education in the rural schools
in Clarke & Madison Counties. He was united in marriage to
Evelyn May Morrow on December 20, 1941 at Bethany,
Missouri, and two children blessed this union, James Douglas
and Marsha Kay.
Clell was a farmer. He was a 50 year member of Fern
Lodge #558 A.F. & A.M of Lorimor and transferred to Model
Lodge in later years. He was a member of the N.F.O and
Farm Bureau and served 10 years as Weed Commissioner;
enjoyed visiting with people, working on old engines and
woodworking. He restored an International 1020 tractor and
drove it in many parades over the years. He was a member of
the Madison Chapel Church and served as the secretary for
several years.
Those relatives who preceded Clell in death were his
parents; wife, Evelyn; sister, Burla Stephenson; brothers,
Leonard, Benjamin and Clifford Camp.
He leaves to cherish his memory; son, Jim (Shelly) Camp
of Peru; daughter, Marsha (Jim) Milner of Pleasantville;
grandchildren, Martin (Jodi) Milner of Pleasantville, Melanie
(Dan) Benge of Pleasantville, Rachelle (LaVerne) Cashman of
Murray, Benjamin (Carri) Camp of Peru; great-grandchildren,
Cyrus Cashman, Tyler Cashman, Adriana Camp, Nathan
Camp, Breanna Benge, Miranda Benge, Gavin Milner,
Cassandra Milner; sister, Waunita (Darrell) Siefkas of Murray;
brother-in-law, Bob (Nancy) Morrow of Des Moines; other
relatives and friends.
